I’ve been in bed 4 3yrs and started a macrobiotic diet on May 1st 2001. I m feeling good......
Is there anywhere else to chat about Macros as it’s rather quiet here? I’ve got Chronic Fatigue Syndrome......anyone heard of a macro miracle involving CFS? I am trying to eat Congee - creamed grains - & its absolutely awful: rolleyes: I’ve piled on the condiments but no joy It’s the only grain style that gives me energy. I need Yang but not too much as Ill crave Yin. My careers can't cook fancy recipes so my diet is SO BORRIIIIIIIINGGG :If only they had a macro takeaway |

I am very sorry to hear of your CFS. Chronic fatigue syndrome is a very disabling disease, whose treatment is largely ignored by Western medicine.
I applaud you on your embrace of the macrobiotic diet and lifestyle to cure your CFS. When one initially converts to a macrobiotic diet, one often feels incredible... absolutely the best they have ever felt in their lives. That usually subsides over a period of six months, never to be regained again (sad, but very true!). That initial high is definitely worth the experience, goodness knows it's great, but after following the diet for many years other difficulties may set it (and often do!). Have you ever noticed how many of the leading macrobiotic counselors look anemic, pale, and sickly (I won't name names!)? All I'm saying is, don't be too dogmatic. Do not be obsessed about a particular condiment, and PLEASE do not become obsessed about food! One more thing. You can use the B12 patch which is very easy to apply. Having been given the diagnosis of Chronic Fatigue Syndrom 17 years ago, I tried it all. The Macro. diet works for awhile, however, CFS is a symptom and in your case have you been tested for immune disorders. I found out I have Lyme disease and once I started the proper medication the CFS finally is gone. If people would demand to get proper testing and an answer with a specialist they may find the answer. So many patients are never tested for diseases like Borrelia and Babesia because main stream doctors from the old schools are not aware of this insiduous disease that leaves many of us with CFS, brain fog, MS, ALS, Chronic pain and the answer was there, but we did not go far enough. I will continue to tell my story to anyone that wants help because my life was a nightmare for 15 years. Polmerize testing is important. pam482@hotmail.com. Best Wishes, tangye5

I am trying to recover after many years of living in an apartment that turned out to be riddled with toxic mold and its been a real struggle. And I am getting better, but I am still really sick and I don't have any energy and I make mistakes constantly and forget things constantly.
Has anyone else here had that experience? I've been helped a lot by cholestyramine and I am also taking lots of omega 3s and antioxidants but - its been a real struggle. |

I posted a reply on " chronic fatigue or what ??" post.
Please read it - you might find similarities to yourself. My wife was diagnosed as MS but last year we discovered she's actually b12 deficient - she gets injections which have helped so much. I got impression you live in UK? If so doctors may not be able to do the B12 blood test - it's quite controvertial over here! Get superior b12 3000mcg lozenges (methylcobalamin) and take one a day for at least 3 months. If you have b12 deficiency you should see an improvement in your symptoms. B12 is naturally occuring, the main source is meat (liver and kidney) but if you have an absorption problem your body will never get enough through diet (however good it is). The lozenge dissolves under your tongue and B12 goes straight to the blood so bypasses digestion ( I think ). Last edited by Curious; 07-30-2007 at 09:03 AM. Reason: edited links |

If malabsorption is due to the most common cause (insufficient stomach acid) and is not severe, B12 in vitamin form can get through but the body cannot break it out of food.
If malabsorption is severe (loss of intrinsic factor), the very large dose )1000 - 2000 mcg all at once per day is standard) allows enough to get through by default to begin building up stores. rose
