Hi, I was out walking recently and I suddenly felt this severe pain in my calf muscle. It felt as if I had been electrocuted. I at first thought I had pulled a muscle and waited for the muscle to relax. After about 10 minuets I stood up and I felt the shock again. Long story short..5 days later and it's still very sore. Not as bad as the 1st day but I still can't put pressure on it. I've tried muscle relaxing creams, which offer slight relief but It doesn't seem to be getting better.

Hi Johnny, naturally I can't say for sure because I am not a doctor, but your symptoms sound like you might have a condition called intermittent claudication.
Claudication is a fairly common condition of the blood vessels which causes pain in the legs with exercise. The pain occurs when the muscles are starved of oxygen, usually due to hardening of the arteries. When you exercise (like walking), the leg muscles need more oxygen than they would when you are resting, and if they don't get the oxygen they need, a person can experience excruciating leg pain. Muscles become painful if they can't get enough oxygen. With claudication, if you rest your muscles after the pain (like you did), the oxygen levels in them return to normal making it possible for you to walk again. Had you continued, the pain would most likely return after walking about the same distance. Type intermittent claudication into your browser to get more information, but here's a Wiki link that it explains it fairly simply. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Claudication I hope that's been of some help, but do make an appointment with your doctor to have this checked.
