Default I need Advice - Just diagnosed with Trigeminal Neuralgia

Hello,

I am a 25 year old Female. The past 4 days i have not slept due to severe pain on the left side of my face. My whole left side of my face. I went today to see a Doctor and said i have Trigeminal Neuralgia, asked if i wanted him to recommend me to a Neurological surgeon and put me on a Medication called Lyrica 75mg. Then sent me packing home. It wasn't till home i looked online and read more into this disorder, and i'm afraid that the longer i wait for his phone call to make a meeting with the nero the more severe my condition could become.

Should i go to Emergency at a hospital and get a second opinion asap and MRI on request?

I'm in so much pain . HELP!!!

Elyse

Welcome to the club. I've been living with it for 10 months untreated due to idiot doctors telling me I had migraines for months. Then taking more months of testing with the neurologist.

There are thousands of causes, typically something pushing on the nerve, but not always.

A neurologist would be the one to see. For me it's a tumor and rare disorder called Tolosa Hunt Syndrome causing the TN, I'm 28 but was 27 when it started out of nowhere.

Now I take neurontin which helps a lot for TN. And steroids for the THS.
