Hi again,
I'm not sure what this is. For the past two weeks, I notice that saliva keeps going into my lungs and it's causing me to feel sick. Could this be due to a virus in the lungs? I don't have a fever or runny nose. Just feels like I'm on the verge of getting pneumonia. I'm trying to schedule to see my doctor, but cannot until next week. Sometimes it feels like heartburn and sometimes it will feel like saliva keeps going into my lungs (even when I'm not swallowing). It kinds of feels like air is being pushed up and forcing saliva to go into my lungs and I have no control over it... it's very uncomfortable. My husband and kids do have same symptoms, but I'm not sure if they are feeling what I do as far as saliva going into lungs. Could this be due to a weak LES? My children tend to come into my room at night when they have nightmares and literally sleep on top of my stomach. Thanks in advance for whoever can figure out what is wrong with me. |

chokato, in regards to saliva going down into your lungs.... are you coughing a lot?
When saliva goes down the wrong way and enters the air passages, the body's natural defense is to immediately cough and cough until any foreign matter, and in this case saliva, is expelled from the air passages. If you are not coughing excessively, then you are probably not experiencing a problem with saliva in your lung, but if you are..... you need to see a doctor about it because untreated it could lead to pneumonia.
