I have over the last couple of days developed a large (larger than a quarter) lump that feels solid on my right jawline and immediately underneath. it is very painful and now i can barely open my mouth. I have had no dental issues or trauma/injury to this area. I am wondering if it is necessary to see a doctor? (i have no health insurance.)
Any help anyone can provide will be greatly appreciated. |

Even with no evidence of trauma or dental issues, these things can happen and some of them serious. The jaw is close to your brain, and infections can travel easily to the brain. I would seek your dentist first ASAP to rule out infection. He will make a recommendation to you if it does not involve dental issues. The dentist is qualified to evaluate your whole mouth. Pain is not a good indicator, so go check it out please. I hope you are able to get help and resolution for this problem. I will be thinking of you. ginnie
