Default Chronic pain related to old car accident

I have been experiencing chronic facial pain related to my car accident in 1992. I believe the term would be non-trigeminal neuralgia, but I'm really not sure. I've been to many doctors and specialists over the years, had several sinus, jaw and facial surgeries. I've been referred for biofeedback and massage therapy with moderate success.

This year, I was referred to a pain management doctor (neurologist) who just put me on Oxycontin (terrible experience). My research has led me to information on nerve blocks (invasive, would like to try as a last resort). I am really interested in hearing about other's experiences with neuromuscular rehab (mirror therapy?), massage and biofeedback. Also, if anyone can recommend some actual facial exercises, would be great. I have severe sinus pain that extends below my jaw and to my ears. If I can't get it managed with otc pain relievers or my gabapentin prescription, it turns into what I'd term a migraine. This happens quite regularly. In fact, I suffer facial pain daily, ranging from mild to severe.

Any advice appreciated! -Marty

Smile Chronic Pain

Hi Marty,

I have lived with Chronic pain since 1996 from a serious MVA. I broke my back in 3 places, bone harvested , internal damage to liver ect. I can suggest only a bit for you. I do not know of facial pain, but related to migraines and nasal blockage you may want to try a spray recommended by your doctor called "OMNORIS nasal spray". I found after a nasal fracture and complete skull fracture that I get migraines and very blocked nasal passages. This product works for me to a degree but hey some help is better than none I suppose . I hope this helps a bit. If I think of anything else I will contact you. Take care. You are not alone!
