Default MITEMPFINDUNG/ Reffered itch

Hi all and although this is not a harmful condition I have seen quite a few neurological topics on this forum so thought I would post here as I am interested to see if I can find out more about this.

When I touch some parts of my body, as well as feeling it in that part of my body, I also feel it in a different part of my body, very strongly, as if the other part was being touched as well, but kinda, deeper, as if it was being touched from inside my skin not outside. For example, the inside of my left thigh has a spot which feels inside my bellybutton, and the sole of my left foot has a spot that feels on the sole of my right foot. Most of the spots on my body have been there since forever or developed whilst I was young. However some of them have gone away, and I have had some that crop up for only a few months and then go away again, which seems to correlate with minor injuries I have sustained like grazing or having a cut/ blister there. It's actually kinda fun sometimes when I'm bored I purposely induce this reffered itch around my body.

Little is known/ researched about this because it is not a serious or harmful thing. I did a little experiment of my own and did a survey on my friends, out of the 20 people i asked (10 males 10 females) 3 males had experienced this and over 10 females had so it seems more common in girls.

I just want to know who else has experienced this and if any specialists out there perhaps know what causes this or what exactly is going on when this happens. (I'm imagining all my nerves crossing over before they reach my brain) but it's probably not like this at all lol. Let me know what you think!
