Default Hello!

Hi everyone!!

My name is Tecia and I am 26 yrs old and I have a couple questions. Well first let me tell you a little of what is going on. In May of this year I was cleaning my house like normal and I went to lay down because I was exhausted and finally relieved to be done. About 5 minutes of relaxation, I felt my whole right side numb and I look in the mirror because I felt tingles in my cheek and I noticed my cheek and eye were droopy. I thought maybe it was a pinched nerve, so went to watch tv and my son asked me for help with a video game so I said "ya sure!" as soon as I said that I noticed my voice was diff. My son asked if I was ok. I decide to call my sister or my mom just to clarify that something was diff. As soon as I talked they were like "omg! call 911!" etc. I just contacted my fiance and we went to the emergency room. I was fine. No pain, no headaches..nothing.. then they say on their little talky thing "we have a possible stroke!" I was like "omg!" how did I not know, I am not dying. Well they kept me there did all sorts of test and found a small aneurysm but nothing to worry about and had nothing to do with speech. My voice finally came back and they said I had anxiety and I was B12 deficient. I went home and upped my b12 and still had speech problems, but only when I cried or got really nervous. Well yesterday I had something crazy happen. I got done with school then I passed out in the car because I was so tired. I got home and I started having uncontrollable facial movements and expressions, and wild arm movements. I was fully aware that this was happening but I could not stop. My fiance recorded it and we wrote it in my journal. We waited and it got to a point where it was constant and sounds were associated with my facial movements. Therefore, we called Barrow here in Arizona they said they can't move my appt. earlier unless I was seen by there hospital and it was best I go to the same hospital because they have my info. We went and of course I thought everyone was looking at me like I was crazy and the same doc that had seen me last time, said he still thinks it is anxiety and the best thing to do is to wait for my appt. with barrow. I have video if anyone wants to see. I am going to keep my videos going and only take the meds they gave me if it gets really bad. The meds they gave me were lorazepam and a nausea medicine just in case the medicine makes me sick. When I took it yesterday the movements went away and i crashed out. Today is a lot of hand movements. Does anyone think this is B12 deficiency and anxiety?? Email me if you want me to send the video.

Hi Tecia,

My name is Sara and in my experince with my own nerve related condition, it sounds like more than anxiety and B12 deficiency to me. I have found in my experience with doctors in the ER or otherwise, they give a diagnosis of anxiety when they really have no clue as to why you are experiencing what you are. If you have a B12 deficiency, this could mean that you are low on serotonin, dopemine or your other "happy" neurotransmitters. In my experience and research I have discovered when these neurotransmitters are low or non-exsistent your nerves could miss fire. Since you are experiencing muscle spasms, the low B12 could be the cause of that part and a neurotransmitter inhibitor/replacement like gabapentin could help to control your nerve impulses. When you go see your other doctor perhaps you could mention or ask questions concerning treatment with a gabapentin like medication to include a good B vitamin supplement. As for your stroke like conditions a pinched nerve could be the cause. I know and have seen this down personally, that you can cause Bell's Palsy (facial paralysis) by applying pressure to the facial nerve close to each temple on the side of the face. Have you bumped your head, tworked your neck, shoulders or upper back? I'm sure they asked you that in the ER, but you could have a pinched nerve along the upper spine that could be causing your paralysis, nausea, changes in speach and muscle spasms. Are you able to be seen by a medical massage therapist or chiropractor? I say medical massage therapist because they are a lot different with their treatment procedures than you average massage therapist in a spa. I hope this information has helped in some regard and I am thinking of you as you go through this challenging time in your life.

Sara
