Default Idiopathic Neuropathy in Feet and Lower Limbs

Hi there.
My symptoms are burning, stinging feet occasionally up in ankles and lower legs, worse on the right side. Glove and stocking type distribution.
Started approx 10 years ago with numbness in right foot and gradually getting worse. Now very unpleasant.
Mostly sensory with only slight motor weakness. No symptoms in upper body.
Have had many, many blood tests plus MRI scans of whole spinal cord and brain.
Don't eat gluten because get indigestion and hay fever if I do.
Have tried cutting out dairy, tea, coffee, sugar and numerous other things. Not on any medication.
Symptoms would seem to fit in with diabetes but medics insist blood tests show no indication of this.
Medics totally baffled so far.

Any ideas where to go next?

Just a thought. Have you had DNA blood testing for CMT. Is there any history of it in your family or someone in the family who has similar symptoms.

Haven't had that test as far as I know although having very briefly (just now) read up on CMT I don't think I really fit the picture. I will check with my GP so thanks for the reply.

Incidentally the reflexes in my patella and achilles are absent bilaterally but I think they have been from a young age.

Default You really need--

--a comprehensive neuropathy work-up from either a tertiary research center that is familiar with the many types and presentations or a specialist practitioner who's willing to investigate.

Many of us consult the Liza Jane spreadsheets, which were designed to be as comprehensive a database of possible tests for neurological symptoms as current medical science could conceive; you shuold look it over and see just what kinds of testing you've so far had:
