Default Burning sensation, trigeminal pain but all the test are ok.

Hello,

I suffer burning sensation on the feet, trigeminal pain, eyelid dropping, muscle twitching that comes and go and some other symptoms that look like MS but i do not have weakness.

The doctor did a EMG, evoked potentials, nmr of the brain and cervical spine, HBA1c, hemogram blood test, orine and coprologic test, and everything, everything looks fine.

With all these tests done, the doctor is telling me that MS is not a reasonable diagnosis.

What more tests can i have to find a diagnosis? At this moment i want to know what i suffer no matter if it is curable or not.

My own hypothesis is that i suffer some glucose peaks that are not deteactable but they are causing damages to my body.

Hope you can help me. Thanks.

Default I think--

--you need to come on over to the peripheral neuropathy forum here and read up on damage to the peripheral nerves (those outside the brain and spinal cord):

It sounds also as if you've only scratched the surface on testing for possible causes. This is not surprising, as a lot of doctors (even neurologists) are unsure what to do if testing the central nervous system with brain/spinal cord imaging doesn't show anything definitive. We have a lot about testing in the Useful Websites part of the neuropathy forum, including the Liz Jane spreadsheets, which were designed to be as comprehensive a list of test for neurological symptoms that the best minds here could come up with:

Dfrojas,

I wonder if it could be along the lines of Lambert-Eaton Myasthenic Syndrome (LEMS)...? Symptoms can vary but I know most if not all your symptoms are related (e.g. burning sensation, eyelid drooping, muscle twitching that comes and goes, regaining muscle strength upon exertion,..)

For LEMS, you could try the VGCC receptor antibodies blood test. People with LEMS might also respond to the prescription drug Mestinon or to the Tensilon test. Was it a single fiber EMG (SFEMG) that you did? That's a way to check for it as well.

Here's the Myasthenia Gravis group which includes patients with LEMS. The group is VERY active and even more helpful, you might ask them: http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forum77.html

I hope you can get this resolved soon.
