And, mention to her that in the US the low normal is 180. In Japan the lowest serum B12 level that is considered normal is 550 because at that level difficulty in mentation begins to appear.

She is trying to see another eye doctor. Maybe they will be more helpful for her.

My B12 and Vitamin D have been low. Maybe she also has low B12 and/or D. Does that run in families?

There is research to support the idea that people of Eastern European descent are more likely to have/get pernicious anemia.

My mother had pernicious anemia, and low vitamin B12 has been a scourge for me.

Some research suggests that pernicious anemia is the outcome of prolonged low vitamin B12. That would suggest that if you have h.pylori causing low vitamin B12, then after some time your body might lose its ability to make intrinsic factor, which is needed to get B12 into the body after it is released from food. The h.pylori interferes with stomach acid production, and without enough stomach acid your body can't get B12 or magnesium out of food.

She went to a new eye doctor. The doctor gave her a new prescription. The doctor added correction for astigmatism. Hopefully this might help with her problem.
