Hi. I started having severe headaches a year ago with neck pain. At that time, I was seeing a chiropractor. He was afraid that the bulging disc in my neck may have ruptured. Long story short, it hadn't, but was still slightly bulging. Plus I have degenerative disc disease as well as arthritis in my neck. I have been seeing a neurologist for just under a year and have been diagnosed with cervico genic migraines. I have tried nortriptylin ( unsucessfully) ; Gabapentin worked wonderfully until after taking it for 3 weeks my throat swelled up. I am now on Topamax and was kinda happy with it, but am still experiencing migraines. My doctors really don't tell me much and I really haven't found much online. Is there anyone who knows about this? I currently don't have health insurance and am waiting on a hearing date for disability, and I do have an attorney. Any information would be greatly appreciated. The topamax 75 mg doesnt seem strong enough and 100 mg is way to strong..

Hi Dolores,
Yes, I get cervicogenic headaches, migraines, and now that I review the definitions, I spose some of what I get are also cervicogenic migraines. Basically, it means migraines originating from disorders in the neck/cervical spine. Have you tried any meds in the triptan class? Quote:
If I can catch it early enough, I can also get relief from myofascial triggerpoint massage and/or other acupressure points. IMO, both are worth trying. Some folks also get results with accupuncture. What is it you're not finding online? I find a lot of info via goggle. cervicogenic migraine There is also a headache forum here. Doc
