My Arachnoid Cyst, in the posterior fossa, was discovered 10 years ago, (with an MRI) after 2 years trying to find answers to my symptoms.
It was operated on, and so far, hasn't regrown. Although we were sure it had, because the symptoms returned early last year. But an MRI didn't reveal any new growth.
But now it seems I have Occipital Neuralgia, originating from the cyst operation, which damaged the Occipital nerves!
Just my luck...
:(

have been having migraines for past few yrs - getting worse and more frequent and lasting longer. Also have associated neurological features - numbness, tingling, and speech is difficult and a bit slurred.
Have over past month had days when i sleep abnormal amounts!

I had a scan MRI - which showed a "possible intradiploic arachnoid cyst".
Am waiting for a neurosurgery appointment now .

was very shocked at the results appointment and asked very little.

Please tell me what to expect?
would rather know what's likely and be pleasantly surprised??

my 3 y/o son

left temporal lobe. very large ac that ruptured. he had craniotomy fenestration in july 2013. we just had a recheck and not much improvement since surgery altho he is feeling better.
the symptoms that got his diagnosis were severe headaches (mornings) with vomiting that got worse over a few weeks (from rupture until diagnosis & emergency surgery). but looking back i can now see the symptoms that he had that i never noticed because i thought i had a healthy unique child. so now im trying to learn all i can and understand what he experiences. he is still symptomatic. we are waiting to see if he will get a shunt at next recheck.
im his mother and i love him so much and it's scary. im glad to read about others who have this and can describe what they feel.
anyone with temporal lobe ac please i would like to communicate so i can understand my son

My son was diagnosed with an arachnoid cyst in his brain. 2 years ago when it was discovered I was told by his neurosurgeon that it is massive and was splitting both his temporal and frontal lobe. Yesterday he told me that there is no brain matter. That this part of the brain never developed. Instead there is a huge sac of CSF.

No brain? Is this true? I can't find a strait answer anywhere and I'm losing my mind.

Hi Stanley,
You are not alone. I am a fellow sufferer who is increasingly incredulous at ALL these Neuros who say that the large lumps pressing on our brains are causing none of the symptoms we present with. Maybe they just don't understand Arachnoid Cysts at all.
Still, if you would like to share your symptoms and your problems with a sympathetic group, perhaps that will be a first step in coming to terms with your condition.
Always here for you.

Dave.
