Hi all,
I was just wondering if any of you know what causes white matter hyperintensity lesions on the brain besides MS? My doctor told me that I have two on my brain as of last year and now I'm waiting for a second MRI to see if things have changed. He didn't say where the lesions were located but he told me I have two, said the damage can't be reversed and asked if I had a family history of cancer. :/ I know you guys aren't supposed to diagnose on here but I'm just wondering if anyone's in or has been in a similar situation and if you have any good information on it. I tried doing some research but it's not very clear what they are or what causes them, and I'm in my early 20's so I don't think I have Alzheimer's or Dementia. Any advice would be great. |

Use of the antibiotic Flagyl (metronidazole) can cause white lesions in the brain. This is not common, but does occur.
Here is a medical paper about it. http://www.jpma.org.pk/full_article_...rticle_id=3620

hi
I had brain leisons on MRI that looked like MS. Had repeat MRI 3 times. Has had multiple neurological symptoms. But doctors say it is not MS I saw a special neurologist, he said that Sjoegren syndrome has very similar brain lesions and symptoms. He tested me for that with biopsy, but biopsy and blood test negative. What symptoms do you have? Are you seeing a neurologist? You could look up Sjoegrens, and other autoimmune disorders. |
