Default photophobia

Hi my name is Angela, I have had acute photophobia for 14 years.
Anyone here or anyone you know that can exchange symptoms?
No cure for it, and it's getting worse with time.
anyone wants to discuss it?
*edit*
Thanks,
Angela

I also suffer with photophobia as well as other conditions that have taken away my vision. I live in a state where it rains often and I truly appreciate the grey skies the rain brings. I cannot venture outdoors unless I have sunglasses on and even that may not always be enough. Shopping cam be a nightmare in some stores that have too bright lights....I can not see the products many times and am forced to buy only products I am familiar with. Even eating at food buffets my friends have to tell me what dishes are in front of me.

Unfortunately I also have macular degeneration, double vision and going color blind. I don't know how many opthamologists I have seen and the only thing they say is to wear sunglasses. At one time I was taking glucosamine/condrotin and the photophobia was really severe. It was only when I did some research that I learned that condrotin is what many doctors use to dilate eyes before exams.

I understand exactly what you are going through.

Angela,

My other reply disappeared into space, so I'll try again.

I have multiple conditions which have taken away my vision and photophobia is on the list (macular degeneration, double vision, color blindness, photophobia, floaters). I dare not step out of my house without sunglasses on. Photophobia was even worse at one time when I was taking glucosamine/condrotin. It was only when I did some research that I learned condrotin is what many eye doctors use to dilate the pupils before eye exams.

Shopping in stores with toobright lights are a nightmare. I have to stick to products I am already familiar with, especially in the freezer cases. If I eat at a buffet, my friends have to tell me what I am standing in front of as the serving tables are lit above with bright lights. My windows at home all have coverings on them and even then some days I eed to wear sunglasses in the house.

I know what you are going through. The only solution for photophobia that I have seen is to wear a specially colored contact lens but no doctor I have ever seen has suggested it.
