Pests annoying me

I need some advice on my situation. I have not mentioned it before because it's a bit strange,and I was hoping it would clear up,but it hasn't.

Since this past July/August 2006, I have noticed that I am being followed/annoyed by gnat like bugs or fruit flies.

They seem to be flying around me constantly. When I go to work, they will be in my office... bothering me. When I am in my car at least one will have found his way there flying around me/on me.

I can actually go to a restaurant or cinema, and notice that one has found it's way there too somehow!

I don't understand how they have managed to attach themselves to me/on me and follow me from place to place. I know that they are attracted to smell,but I am not using any new shampoos/soaps.

Nothing out of the ordinary. I only take my normal vitamins and my BP meds as per normal.

I have no plants,and leave no food out, and my house is very clean.

I notice that they actually seem to fly around me specifically. Generally there is not more than 1 at a time. I will kill it,and ten minutes later I will notice another one flying around me. I do not want to give the impression that there are many like a swarm, as I said it's only one flying around,and then another at some later stage.

My co-workers have noticed this also,and have said that it's odd. I wouldn't suspect that I had something to do with it personally, but it's been going on for 10 months now,and they seem to appear wherever I am, ie, inside my car,my house,my office,at restaurants.

Any ideas anyone?

Hi Aussie, that'd be weird. Lucky they're not bees or wasps or some stinging insect. There's an 'old wives tale' up my way that if you take B vitamins it'll keep the mozzies away. I've also heard another tale about bugs being attracted to people who have diabetes. No idea if there's any truth in the last one, but I think the B vitamins do keep the mozzies away. Maybe it's a perfume you wear or an ingredient in one of your toiletries that attracts them at this time of year or something like that???

Bugs have always been attracted to me for some reason, even as a child. I don't have diabetes as far as i know,i have regular blood tests.

diabetes was my first thought as well....maybe the manufacturer of one of your products has changed the contents.....good luck

Soo, what I'd done, was eliminate wearing the 'attracting' colors of Red and Yellow [not to mention Orange] these attract critters to 'do' the fertility things. Then I eliminated all soaps and detergents to the scent 'free' types...it helped a lot. THEN further I 'used' to use Avon's Skin-s-Soft, until they changed their formula 3 years ago from using basic oils to a 'carrot seed extract oil' and I'd gotten hives [all over, big time]...I now try to find the baby oil with the least scent possible to moisten...that or prescription ointments...It IS ONE BUM DEAL! {pure carrot-extract oils are deemed as toxic for some purposes-eeek?}
In the meantime, other than wearing raw garlic ropes, I don't know what we can do? We are just soo attractive? Ideally not only to bugs but to others as well! Gotta think good things here? I certainly want to go round un-bitten and undamaged and with some STYLE! - hugs! - j

I am one of that type people, too, lol. There can be 10 peeps sitting in a group, and no one will get bitten except me.

I have asked several Dr.s over the years about this... and they all answer the same way. (Not that I think dr.s are right all the time, lol... but this one sorta makes sense to me) They said it was a "melanin" thing. The paler your skin is, the more the bugs like you. Your veins show up better to their weird vision, and your skin is easier to pierce. And if you are skinny like me, then the veins are closer to the surface, too, making you an easy meal.
