Default Anyone had anything like this before? Very rare dizziness type condition

Hello, I'm new to these forums and this is the reason I signed up.

My condition will be 5 months old on the 19th January.

My main symptoms are:
  • slanted vision - but I can feel it as feel, like when I put one foot in front of the other it feels higher up a hill
  • lightheaded type dizziness
  • Feeling of "lightness" and deafness in my right ear
  • Unawareness of my own height
  • Unawareness of the size of objects
  • The sensation that the ground is very far away (could be a sub-symptom)
  • Leaning back and forward when I stand up in the same stop for longer than 30 seconds
  • Sensitive hearing

Symptoms I don't have but get repetitively asked if I have:
  • Nausea (feeling sick)
  • Vertigo ("room spinning")
  • Vomiting (being sick)
  • Tinnitus ("ringing" in ears)
  • No pain anywhere, even in my ears - people often confuse it with the problems with my right ear
  • No blurred of double vision or any other changes to it other than the symptoms mentioned above

When my Symptoms Started (in order)
My problems with my right ear started when I was in the car. I have had the feel of deafness before but not like this, normally when I cover my ear I feel normal again but this time I didn’t.
My slanted vision and sensation started when I was walking on outside steps toward the study the very next day. With a blink of an eye it appeared (literally). I thought it was a "normal" sensation that would go away after a few minutes but it didn’t. When I got there I asked the teacher if this room was slanty and she said no. I also hit my head on the door that day; it was one of the worst days of my life.
When I was in eye causality, they put eye drops in my eye and told me that my vision would become blurred. This didn’t happen, instead I felt unaware of my height. My brain told me I was one height and my body told me I was another. This happened even when the eye drop were supposed to “wear of”.
One day when I was in a supermarket I was dizzy so I leaned on the trolley. I pushed it down the aisle and everything seemed to get bigger.
In chemistry class, I was sitting on stool type chair. The ground seemed far away so I stood up to see if I had the same sensation, the sensation was the same and I’ve been like that ever since.
I’m not sure how the other symptoms started.
Medical Treatment
I have seen my GP, numerous eye doctors, a neurologist consultant, an ENT doctor who specialises in dizziness. I’ve even spend a week in hospital. On paper I look healthy. I’m waiting to see a consultant who specialises in balance disorders.
Below are the tests that I’ve had, they have all came back “normal”:[LIST][*] Numerous reflex tests [*] Numerous blood tests[*] Blood pressure and heart rare [*]MRI of my brain and inner ear, but they might have to re-do it because I was moving[*] EEG[*] Every type of eye test you can think of.
Despite looking healthy on paper, I’ve had some treatment.
  • Antibiotics – they help with the weirdness of my ear, but they made my ear feel light
  • 2 difference dizziness tablets – the first set just made me feel drowsy, the second set seem to be helping with my dizziness but not with any other symptoms.
  • Dizziness exercises – don’t seem to be helping with anything.

Hello Grace,

I wonder if you have migraines?

I see you've had an EEG that came back fine.

Did they do an EEG when you were having these vision disturbances or have you had an ambulatory EEG done over a period of 24 hours or more? People on Epilepsy forum (link posted below) would know more about that test.

How often does it happen?

The vision disturbances read like Alice in Wonderland syndrome (also known as Todd's syndrome) and that can be present in people who have migraines and also in epilepsy.

btw, with migraines. Some people have what are called "silent migraines". They get symptoms of migraines but not the headache part.

You could also try posting over on the
Epilepsy Forum
and also
Headache Forum includes migraines.

Regarding what you've said here >>
"Leaning back and forward when I stand up in the same stop for longer than 30 seconds"

Have you always done that or is this a new symptom too? Could be a stim - a comfort thing.

There is a search feature here at NeuroTalk.
You may find it helpful looking for past posts with similar symptoms.

take care there.

My neurologist wondered that as well but didn't give me any treatment to do with mirgrates. I looked in mirgraine type vertigo but it seems more like something that comes on and off but not completly constant, like my symtoms.

That's what my neurologist suggested but he couldn't treat it because he didn't know what caused it.

It only started when my other symtoms started. I've never throught about it as stim thing before, but I don't think it is because it gives me no comfort.

I only wear glasses sometimes.
I don't mean to rude, I know your trying to be helpful but if you read my post then you would see that I have had many eye tests and I can feel it as well, like when I put one foot in front of another it feels like one is higher up.

I was just thinking about astigmatism. Perhaps you don't even have it. But for those who do have it bad enough sometimes if it is corrected too much things are slanted.

I did read your post. Just asking the question. Your user name also made me think of it. Sorry if you took this the wrong way. I have nothing else to offer.

For a start you could search for Alice in Wonderland Syndrome using the search feature below. There may be something in other people's posts that sounds familiar.
