Hi there and sorry you life is so flat. You can and will be better. I am reading "Feeling Good" by Dr. David Burns - an old book on cognitive therapy - and there have been many things in this book that have helped me out of my "staring at the walls" period. It is a little hard to get into, but please try reading through once and see what you think. It may all be physical and not just psychological, but sounds like you are having a real depressive state. Keep trying - you will find the answer. Good luck - Tim

Symptoms:
Severe apathy/abulia (I basically feel like I'm dead. Doing anything is no different from staring at a wall. I sit in my room all day and do almost nothing. This is different from depression because it's not associated with feelings of sadness, I literally feel nothing. The only thing I do during the day is walk the dog and the rest of the time I spend staring at the computer screen doing almost nothing. These symptoms get worse all of a sudden about an hour after I eat dinner at night, and my head starts to feel hurt and feel really strange. This severe apathy is normally symptomatic of damage to the frontal lobes of the brain but that's not the case in this case as both my MRI and CT scans were clean.

Sometimes I'll randomly start gagging, a lot of times after I got up from eating dinner, or after i started walking around.

constant weird sensations and pain on my scalp on the left side of my head

Periodic episodes of severe depression/anxiety where I have such a strong nervous feeling in my stomach that I barely eat anything.

I've done research and have been able to find nothing that fits my symptoms. I've already been tested for urea cycle disorders, Wilson's disease, and lyme disease and have had an MRI and a CT that showed nothing. My symptoms started ten years ago and I've been absolutely miserable ever since.

that's a long time to be dealing with a tough condition like that - coming here to look for answers shows that at times you are still able to instinctively do things to take care of yourself. Keep looking. I hope from the variety of possible causes that have been posted here you can find a direction to continue the search.

To add my own 2 cents worth, from my own experience, if my cortisol levels get too low I get to a point where I don't care about anything - not even my own welfare. For me that state is a warning sign because unlike most people my body no longer produces any cortisol naturally (due to auto-immune condition), I have to replace it artificially. Research has been done on the connection between low cortisol and depression.

If you have copies of you previous tests check back and see if your cortisol levels have been measured. If not it may be worth checking. Ask them to do the 8am fasting test. You're probably also aware that having been on so many different meds there may be interactions and long term side effects.

I don't have much medical knowledge but happy to try and answer any questions. All the best for making progress.
