Hi,
I was wondering whether or not lying down all day could cause intracranial pressure to build up to harmful levels. And could lying down all day cause damage to the brain or kill brain cells? Thank you very much! |

Hi JC1875
Welcome to NeuroTalk . Unless there is some underlying medical issue, I doubt that lying down all day would damage your brain.

Since intracranial pressure increases when lying down, could lying down for very long periods of time cause damage to your brain? |

From the article:
"The brain is relatively poorly supplied by oxygen as a result of mild hypoventilation during the sleeping hours, and also cerebral oedema may worsen during the night due to the lying position" Hmm, I'm not sure what to make of this... |

I'm wondering if lying down all day can result in brain cell death or any other sort of damage to the brain (due to the increased intracranial pressure from lying down). Sorry, I'm asking sort of a general question |
