Default Need diagnosis for this condition

My 13 year old has been complaining about hot brain and kind of atmosphere around his head. He says he is having this from 2nd grade. But he was able to express this only when he was 11 years old. He started crying and wanted to harm himself, so we took him to a psychiatrist and she put him on Prozac for 2 years, for last 3 weeks he is off the Rx but says that his atmosphere is back, in this condition he feels uncomfortable about his hot Brain and feels like he is wrapped around in a hot pillow. This lasts for 2 hours or so, he say he is not depressed or sad now instead he feels bad about this condition and does not need Prozac again.
I will be taking him to a neurologist but will need help if anyone knows has had this before.
Thanks

Hi Jackbrown70

Welcome to NeuroTalk .

I am sorry to read about your son.

I am a bit surprised that he was prescribed an SSRI like Prozac without any detailed investigations.

Getting him to see a neurologist is a good idea. You could also talk with his teachers; maybe he has issues at school which could be significant.

All the best.

OP: Don't know if you have any new info about your son, but putting the child on Prozac to me is so wrong. Find a doctor who will work to get to the "root" of the issue...find a quality strong naturopath would be a choice in my mind. Has anything changed for your son? c
