You don't know what the antioxidants mean, Kiwi. Wow. So I'm starting to think perhaps not many supplements are taken in your country.
More people die from the common seasonal flu every year and we never heard about this... We all need to do what we feel comfortable doing, right? I LOVE my antioxidants, supps/vits and minerals. Stay well. |

Caroline, you used three phrases with technical meanings in your sentence in ways which I do not understand. They are "immune system", "antioxidant" and "circulatory system".
The Australian public health system is based on evidence-based medicine. This may be why eating supplements is not fashionable here.

They all work together, antioxidants with circulation and strong immune system.
Changing topics a bit, I like to check populations of other countries and as huge a country that Australia is, only under 26Million population, US I hear lately close to 340Million...major major difference..... |

I am just going to interject here that our beloved mrsD was a highly respected Pharmacist, who knew volumes about the medications she dispensed...pros & cons....yet she also studied, understood and advocated the benefits of specific supplements and other nutritional elements in overall health.
Here in the USA, Big Pharma really does "corner the market" and so supplements only get advocated by them if they can make a $ from it..... I spent many years as a research scientist, and I saw first hand how easily "evidence based" results are sometimes "adjusted" (being polite here) to fit the hypothesis by some researchers -- so I don't have blind faith in science, while still recognizing the tremendous value in well conducted research studies. Yet, I also know from personal, familial and other experience that supplements do have tremendous benefit in many areas of health. I personally do think keeping an open mind is wise. Also, just a gentle request not to let the discussion here become argumentative, rather than a healthy exchange of ideas Thanks |

Oh Kiwi, we don't eat supplements, little extreme comment I think.
And yes it's true MrsD posted a lot of great information and I thanked her often and added to her info. And I did NOT know she was a pharmacist, and speaking of them, every 3 months on Noory's late night program, Ben Fuchs pharmacist is a guest and I love to hear his info and he's all about the immune system and yet on another group I'm a member, a retired pharmacist does all in his power to discredit supplementing. Very interesting |
