Default Pain at the back my head

I have been lying on my back and using the computer for long hours for the past 10 years. I kept the laptop on my chest and used it. For the past few months I am unable to do so as I feel pain in some of the areas at the back of my head. This has resulted in me sleeping either on the right side or left side. I am unable to lie down on my back even for a minute. The pain starts immediately. The pain is not severe. I feel the pain is on the outer part of the head. May be in one or two areas at the back. And the pain disappears once I come out of that position in a few minutes. Any advice other than CT scan?

That position for computer use is not ergonomic at all...

You probably strained your neck muscles with such a long time frame of use like that..

Have you seen a Dr yet? Most likely they should send you to Physical Therapy.. Most likely it is soft tissue/muscles, maybe some posture changes with forward head or shoulders added in..

Muscle spasms & Trigger points can cause pain.
Do you have any pre existing issues with your spine/disks?

Consider this...

It sounds to me like an example of referred pain from tight trapezius muscles. See below.

Google Image Result for https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Carel_Bron/publication/51450419/figure/fig1/AS:202521160228864@1425296215137/Referred-pain-patterns-red-from-the-upper-and-lower-trapezius-muscle-MTrPs-Xs.png

Referred pain means that a trigger point in one muscle can create pain in another area. For instance, when the muscle at the top of your shoulder (trapezius) has a trigger point it will refer pain up the back of your neck and head causing a headache.

These are stretches to overcome pain.

Even if this is not the exact cause it is likely to be a similar external muscular cause so a CT Scan is not really necessary.

I agree with Jo*mar, you really need to undergo work station analysis.
