I’m back, still no answers
My strange, touch it and it hurts but also goes away pain is still here, 2 years later after I was washing my hair, brushed over a spot in my hairline and noticed it hurt like a bruise. I’ve seen multiple neurologists, including the head of the facial pain clinic at Mass General Hospital. I have had several CT scans and MRIs, with and without contrast, and most recently a head and neck MRI with TN protocol. All they ever say is I have a small blood vessel running near my TN, but nothing correlates to the pain I present with. Both neurologists have told me this is not trigeminal neuralgia, possibly small fiber neuropathy, but they can’t tell me definitively what it is. One theorized that a nerve was pinched in my neck when I visited the chiropractor shortly before this began. I’ve had nerve blocks and have done PT with no improvement.
37 year old female, pain started early 2023. Small spot in my hairline that is extremely sensitive to the slightest touch. Pressing it hurts immediately, like a very tender bruise. However, if I almost stroke the spot gently for a few seconds, it actually makes the pain subside until it’s practically gone. Then I wait 5-10 minutes, repeat, pain is back, I rub the spot until it’s better, etc. At its worst I can feel it without touching the spot. Can’t sleep on that side,
Brushing my hair is tender. But most of the time I have no pain until I make contact with this one spot that is slightly above and back of my right temple. If anyone has ANY thoughts I would greatly appreciate it. I did recently test positive for 2 bands of Lyme and have been reading about post COVID issues, and even the vaccine possibly reactivating Lyme and other autoimmune infections in people. I’m just at a loss at this point.
