Same here!
I have the same symptoms when I am exposed to a fragrance or chemical. The left side of my face goes numb which is then usually followed by a migraine. Even if I don't get a migraine the numbness is very disturbing and it is very hard to concentrate on other things when this happens. As soon as I get away from the trigger, my face starts to go back to normal. Unfortunately, many things are triggers at this point. I have tried everything that conventional medicine has to offer, and nothing has helped. I just paid $1000 (which I don't have) to go to a more holistic doctor who thinks he can help me get to the root of my severe chemical sensitivity. I am always looking for input though, as my life has been completely turned around by my chemical intolerance.
But peppermint is one of the worst things- spearmint gum, mints, all that stuff, gives me a reaction every time. I think it is a common trigger for people with chemical sensitivity. Unfortunately, there are not many answers as to how to treat it, which is very disheartening.
