Confused Concussion?

Yesterday(January 7th) I fell down onto my head after attempting to do a backflip, bad idea. Right afterwards I felt tired and fell asleep for nearly 4 hours and when I woke I was still tired so I went back to bed about an hour later and slept for about 9 hours. Today at school I have been sleepy which is very unlike me. I also haven't been able to concentrate that much and instead I just give the "blank stare". I have read many websites about the symptoms and I fit a vast majority of them except I haven't felt nauseous. I didn't bleed after the cuncussion and it dosn't hurt to touch my head where I fell yesterday but I am worried that something could be wrong.

Does it sound like a concussion? If so, do you have any suggestions on ways for me to stay awake during school?

Thank you

I might be a good idea to be checked by a Dr -just to make sure nothing is serious. Do your parents know about the fall & head injury?

And Welcome to the forum

Unhappy Update

Yes I did let my parents know and thank you so much for welcoming me. Today I slept for an hour longer than the past few days and slept for 4 hours before dinner. I feel most tired after school and after dinner. My brain dosn't seem to have the concentration to do my homework which, as a junior in high school, isn't too good.

I seem to be getting very warm recently and when my mom woke me up before dinner she said that I felt like I had a fever but when she took my temp. it said 98.3; but my whole life I have never really ran fevers, even when I had ear infections as a kid.

Im going to have a look at that link you sent me and see what I can find. I am definitly getting worried because I have my finals in less than two weeks.

Oh and yes I will see what they say about taking me to the doctor because all I feel like doing at the moment is sleeping.

Please have them get you to a doctor. Also it sounds a lot like
Post Concussion Syndrome. And the main thing that helps with
this is sleep and rest. And taking your time to get back into
your routine.

The thing is you may need some test done to make sure that everything
is okay. And then you might need to have the doctor write a note
explaining about this to the school so they can help adjust your days and
testing especially.

Thank you so much Donna. I was sleeping an extra 5 hours a day and I decided to give it an extra 3 days before I would get an appointment scheduled. On that last day I felt so much better and today I am feeling energetic like I used to. I am feeling much much better and I now know how grateful I should be for that energy because I didn't know what I had until I lost it. Thank all of you for your concerns.

Sincerely,

I happy, energetic, and healthy teenage
