Any disc can herniat - but T spine are less likely to, from what I hear. You don't have the rotation there that you have at other levels (cervical and lumbar) and T spine is more protected by the ribcage, so most injury and age process is less likely there.
This is also why it's harder to treat. I'd think of it this way - what are the symptoms? ESI should get you by for most of them to start with, physical therapy maybe, and meds. I never like to hear people having surgery as a first option for anything spinal - you can not go back after you do that. Try all the non invasive things there are first, you know? I hate ESIs, but if they work, they're worth it. There are risks, but there are risks with anything. Ask the doc at the pain clinic (is that where you had the ESI?) what your options are - mine was good and gave me quite a lesson - I have them for C spine. Some know as much as anybody you're going to talk to about how the thoracic works and messes up, and how to fix it. Also google stuff - spine pain management, stuff like that. And second opinions, if you can get them. Good luck!
