Question dizziness, left side numbness, but not a stroke

I am writing for my fiance who had an episode recently that took him to the ER. Horrible dizziness, room spinning, massive headaches, facial numbness and general numbness on left side (arm and leg). He has had a CT, arterial CT, MRI, EKG, Echo etc and heart and brain are normal. This came on suddenly with no warning, although he thought back and had been experiencing the facial and left arm numbness for 2 wks or so.
The headache, facial numbness and mild dizziness are all that's left of the symptoms after 3 wks now, but we still have no answers about what happened, how to address it or prevent it happening again or what MDs to see if it resurfaces. Can someone please give me some avenues to look into?
Much appreciated!
Jen

Is there any other aches or pains or anything else? even if he doesn't think it's related?
Any blood work up? just to check on things?
Did they MRI the head and the spine?

What kind of job does he do?
Had he been anywhere around chemicals or ??
just thinking outside the box....

Hi Jen. First I'd like to welcome you to NeuroTalk.

I'm sorry to hear what your fiance went through, and I know all too well how frustrating it can be when something like this happens, and all the tests come back negative.

Like Jo55 I'm wondering about other factors that you've not mentioned in your introduction, like :

How old is he?
Does he play any contact sports? (Thinking bump to the head here)
Has he recently started any new medications?
Is there a family history of strokes or epilepsy?
Was he seen by a neurologist at the ER?

My suggestion would be to see his local doctor soon, and get this incident fully documented. Maybe seeing a neurologist, even though the event has passed, may also be worth a thought.

They're just a couple of ideas from me. I'm sorry I couldn't be more help.

Confused Thank you

Thank you for the responses. To answer your questions, he runs a business office, so not much exposure there other than to a computer! No chemicals, no sports, no other aches, pains, or anything, just the headaches. He's still having the facial numbness. He had, from what I can see from researching the symptoms, classic signs of a stroke. OUr neurologist is not at all helpful with where to go next if it's not within his area. He says it's an unexplained episode, period. I'm just not so comfortable with chalking it up to the unexplained and hoping it never happens again.
Are there any syndromes or diseases that might mimick these symptoms? Someone mentioned Bell's Palsy to me, but in reading about it I'm thinking no.
Any other suggestions or thoughts would be much appreciated.
Jen
