Default Possible neuro problem. Please help

Ok, I am hoping someone I am a Healthy 24 year old male. I have been healthy pretty much my whole life. I enjoy sports and run long distances frequently.

Summer of 2010, I started feeling dizzy at times. Eventually I started getting these weird sensations that sort of felt like someone was hitting the refresh button in my head. Thats the only way i could describe it. like someone hitting the refresh button. I was getting sick and have some swollen lymph nodes. It seemed like I was sick for about a month. I went to the doctor for it and she put me on some antibiotics.

After i started taking the antibiotics i started to notice some localized twitching. I would be laying there and all of a sudden my thumb or arm would move. Like and invisible person just flicked it. As time went on i started to get these twitches in my left eyelid that would go off and on for a day or 2. Eventually that started to go away. Then one day i woke up to a twitching thumb. I woke up and my thumb was shaking in a rhythmic way back and forth. As soon as i became conscious to it, it slowly went away within 10 seconds or so.

After about a month or so of getting random twitches here and there, I became aware that my muscle movements were not smooth. Like, when i would lower my arm from a raised position or rotate my wrist, i would feel a slight shaking sensation. same thing in my legs. On some occasions when i would be laying on my side and leaning on an elbow, I would experience that arm start to shake. I also noticed that my resting heartrate seemed to be a lot faster than normal. It would be around 100 beats per minute when i was completely at rest. I would also on occasion wake up to a rapid heartrate and feel a rhythmic fast rocking sensation throughout my body.

After about another month, I started to think things were getting better. Some days i wouldnt notice any twitching and wouldnt experience any shakiness to my muscle movements at all. I could lean on my elbow when laying down and wouldn't shake. I then got what the flu. Once that hit, my symptoms came back and seemed to be a little worse than before. I began to wake up to the rhythmic sensations, get the occasional twitch and experience muscle shakiness when making movements.

Present day I dont experience those sensations that I used to at the beginning. I still experience the shaky muscle movements when making certain motions. I also have a very difficult time sleeping. As I am dozing off to sleep, I will jerk myself awake with a part of my body quickly moving. Like someone invisible hit me or pulled my arm. This will occur right as I am entering sleep, and it always wakes me right back up. I am currently taking tylenol Pm and that seems to have fixed that problem. There are a couple occasions I can recall where I would wake myself back up because i feel my hand start to shake. But as soon as I become conscious again, the shaking instantly stops. I also notice that after a hard workout or intercourse with my girlfriend, the shaky muscle movements seem to get more amplified.

I have been to a handful of doctors. I have no history or neurological disorders in my family. The doctors all gave me some basic neurological tests when i passed with flying colors. All 3 general doctors I went to gave me different basic neurological tests and said that they dont think it is anything neurological. I have gotten bloodwork and everything was completely normal. I was found to have very high blood pressure (158/115) and was put on high blood pressure medication. I am going to be taking a sleep study, an MRI, and CAT scan to rule out anything nasty.

If there is anyone out there that is experiencing or has expereinced anything similar to this, I would absolutely love to hear some input on this.

Thank you all for your time and responses.

If you have no hx of hypertension (high blood pressure) this may be significant....or anxiety d/t the unknown reason for your symptoms. At least it seems that the docs are taking you seriously! The brain imaging may prove helpful....good luck

Hi, it will be worth while to have the ct and MRI scan. If they turn out negative and your symptoms persists it will be worthwhile to see a neuropsychiatrist. They maybe able to help.

With light and love.
