In late 2006, I was involved in a work accident in which a 20+ pound log was dropped on my head from a tree cutting crew about 25+ feet up. I went to the hospital, had an x ray, to which the doctor said looked ok. I was discharged the same day. 2 days later, my left ear was filled with dry blood. I have had extensive back pain and chronic headaches since this incident. I recently had an MRI which was clear. Now (June 2008) my headaches are getting worse, I've been having memory loss, nausea, and tremors. I was told by a nurse that I may have post concussion syndrome. Would this still be prevelent after a year and a half? I've had no other trauma or medical condidtions since this incident. Looking for some advice.

Let me tell you my experience with brain trauma and MRIs.
I had a normal MRI after having a crainiotomy. I experienced extreme fatigue, concentration/cognitive problems though. I finally went to a neurologist and asked to be tested. He started me on Amantadine, often prescribed for tramatic brain injury, and ordered neuropsychological evaluation. I had dramatic improvement on the medication and almost canceled testing, but I didn't. The testing determined that I now have a learning deficit. My neurologist said he was glad I didn't cancel the evaluation. I really got the idea that he thought I was just a neurotic mess until the testing reveled the damage. Of course if it was me being neurotic it would have been a lot more "fixable".
Have you seen a neurologist?

Thanks for that reply. I'm actually scheduled to see a neurologist on 6/26 (tomorrow). I have had alot of other problems since this whole incident. I've become very irritable, always tired, lost concentration, I was very active, but now my friends have mentioned that I have lost touch. I don't do much except sit at home. Sometimes I lose vision for a couple seconds, I have a hard time finding words, which is very abnormal for me and there's just so much more. I have a doctor who I've never seen (just his nurse practitioner) and I've gone time and time again for the same symptoms. The nurse Prac. has never sent me for any tests, she just tells me it's an inflammation or stress (which she tells everybody for thier symptoms). When this incident first occurred in 2006, the emergency room doctor told me " you are lucky to be alive". I dont know and I guess I wont find out until tomorrow, but my quality of life has deteriorated (which I didn't realize until recently) and my headaches and symptoms have gotten so much worse (it seems they're only on the left side of my head). I hope I can find some resolution soon.
