Default Symptoms similar to human form of mad cow disease

I am not that close to him, so I don't have that much information but I really wish things would turn around for this man so I am looking for answers. The father of my brother in law went from a normal 60 year old man who was in good health, to hardly being able to function and on life support within the span of 2-3 months. At first they thought he just had mental health conditions like severe depression, maybe shizophrenia, though this was very out of character for him because he has never displayed this kind of behavior before in his life. It was very strange. He was a happy, healthy man up to recently, though he was stressed from his job because of economic reasons, and nobody is exempt from developing a mental disorder so we just kind of accepted that might be the problem despite it being so weird. But then it got worse, he couldn't physically function anymore. The doctors said there were protein build ups in his brain. They suspected he might have the human form of mad cow disease. Eventually they took him up to Jacksonville, FL because we live in a smaller city and they have a specialist who knows a lot about mad cow disease up there. Now from what I am hearing, they don't think that's what it is.

So I am just wondering, does anybody know any conditions that can develop extremely fast, that have symptoms very similar to the human form of mad cow disease? My sister thought perhaps he could have been poisoned somehow, and they are still doing tests on him to figure everything out. I just hope we get some answers.

Crutchfelt-Jakobs Disease

Not sure of the spelling but a former pastor of mine passed away last year from this. It is the human form of mad cow.

Hi LGL!

I am so sorry your BIL is suffering. I know this also means others are suffering, too.

There are so many potential causes of illness in this case... it would be too difficult to even try to guess on this! I am glad some specialists are taking care of him and are trying to help.

Just FYI, I am not sure if this interests you or not; however, anyone may ask for prayer, for positive thoughts, etc. if they so desire... by going to the "Spiritual Support Forum!" (No worries if this does not interest you. Just want you to know its available should you be interested.)

I hope you stay in touch! Please let us know if we can assist you in any way during this difficult time.
