Trig borderline personality disorder

I just need to vent, yesterday my daughter stabbed herself my hubby and i found her on the side of the road she had a knife sticking out of her, it was horrific for us my husband suffers from a bad heart he was so upset i was worried about him and my daughter,i rang an ambulance she went to the hospital and straight to surgery where they removed the knife and stiched up her stomach and also her arm,we just don't know what to do for her we feel so helpless, she is in the mental health unit now but they will send her home in a couple of days and we will be back where we started from, she has thoughts of hurting her family she told me that she had thing going around in her head about how she can kill her father and myself her brother her kitten and puppy, that is why she left the house and stabbed herself so she could stop the thoughts thanks for listerning.

Welcome to NeuroTalk:

Oh, my how devastating and difficult for you and your family.

We do have a sister forum, that specializes in mental health issues.

Here is their link:
This is the borderline forum:

This is the main forum address where you can view all the topics available there. PsychCentral is a wonderful resource.
http://forums.psychcentral.com/

There is alot to read and do there besides the forums as well.

You might want to post on our Bipolar forum as well. It is the most active of the psychiatric forums here:
http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forum38.html

I hope your daughter receives good care in the meantime.
Sending positive thoughts your way.

Default Update please

I recognize your area hospital is only equipt to handle acute care. What you described was a suicide attempt not a gesture. Have they discussed the possibility of transferring her to a chronic care facility rather than home? The ins. co. has as much, if not more, to do with how long your local hospital can keep her. If her psych. doc states in writing that she is not safe to go home, she can be transferred to a more intensive, long term facility. Best wishes. You are not alone in spite of the fact that you must be feeling that way right now.
