I'm bumping this up, in case,............................................. ...........
:( anyone has any thoughts on how I can knock this friggin' thought out of my head???:confused:
:rolleyes::mad: Phyllis :p:o |
IMHO you just need to accept the fact that we are all dying from the moment we are born. Some of us just get longer than others.
Mr.Alffe's grandmother once said, "A coward dies a thousand deaths, a brave man dies but once". The important thing is to live the time you have. Abraham Lincoln said "And in the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years." :hug: |
Dr. Amen works with people who have ANTs...automatic negative thoughts.
This is part one of several videos of his program to remove negative thoughts. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F90ljFsPXu0 part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&v=...ture=endscreen part 3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RfOHuDqXKj4 has suggestions part 4: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tNt71...feature=relmfu part 5: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WHfEZ...feature=relmfu Dr. Amen himself used to have serious anxiety issues himself, in the past. |
Excellent advice Mrs.D! I never heard of ANTS...well not that kind. :grouphug:

Hi Phyllis
I am sorry you are having such anxiety issues. I don't know if I can help, but I have kind of an unusual way of looking at life. I consider it an adventure, and just maybe there will be an adventure much to our amazement in the next life. All of us get to find out, so I pretend I am Tom Sawyer on some raft, going to explore the great beyond. I am 61 this year. Not in the greatest shape, but not afraid either. I was at one time, until I figured out all of this is one huge adventure, which most of it is unexplored. Hopefully you will life a long long life, and that during your own adventures, your fear will disapate. ginnie

Okay, I give up!!
:( I'm the only looney-tune, who, doesn't want to die!...:rolleyes::eek::confused:

Hi phyllis
You are not a looney tune. Nobody wants to die. It is the hand we are given being human. It is how you look at it, which helps a person to cope. There is a book out that is new, called Mortality. On the best seller list right now.
No religion, or certain ideas, or methods can for sure take anxiety away or the fear. I feel it too, and just choose to go with the flow, and hope my own ending is peaceful. I try to distract myself with reading, doing fun things, and being with my friends enjoying a day in the country. If I fixated on it, I think I would be pulling out what little hair I do have left. Try to live each day, doing something positive, just for yourself. I have a psych friend of 35 years, and gave me some advise when I obsess over something. He said, picture a shelf in your mind, and put that obsession up on the shelf. You are allowed to take it off the shelf for a certain amount of time, then put it away again, and get on with the business of finding some measure of peace and happyness. All of us are in the same boat. Use the good times, for wanting more good times. Bad comes soon enough. It worked for me phyllis, and stopped me from obessing about all the bad things happening to me right now, like loosing my paid for home. Great...don't even know where I will be living. So today, I am working gently out in the garden, I will read, and do something positive so I don't freak. all my best to you. ginnie |
