I don't understand the HOSPITAL saying she doesn't suffer from a mental illness! It just doesn't make sense! Why do they think she's doing this? For fun? THEY must be out of their minds! OF COURSE she suffers from a mental illness!! She doesn't belong in jail -- she belongs in the hospital!

I wish I had some words of wisdom for you. I wish I knew what to tell you. I don't know if the judge would allow you to talk, but if he will, I think I tell him that the hospital sent her home after one of her episodes, when you WANTED her in the mental unit. Perhaps he would go easier on he and rule that she SHOuld be put in the hospital.

I wish you the very best. My prayers are with you. God bless and please let us know what happens, will you? Please take care. Hugs, Lee

How old is your daughter? It can be difficult to committ someone who is an adult. Still, she is obviously a danger to herself and needs help. If she were doing that to someone else, they'd make a big stink about it and you can bet she would be locked up in jail for years. Depending on what is going on with her, psychiatric care, both medications and discussing what is bothering her could help. My understanding, at least in our state, is that you can be held if you pose an immediate threat to yourself or others.

Your daughter is already suffering. She doesn't need the added upset of being locked up in jail as well. i'm relatively new here so pardon the question. Is she currently under the care of an outpatient psychiatrist? Can you find a psychiatrist willing to take her case on an inpatient basis?

Neither you nor your daughter need this merry go round. I hope you can get some help and at least decrease the number and severity of injuries your daughter is inflicting upon herself.

Default Re: Baker Act

I am not sure if you are in the USA. You can Baker act someone in this country or at least in my state, if you are a danger to yourself. This is a hopitazation, and they hold you for eval. for I think 72 hours. she would have to have someone do a psych evaluation before being released. This young person does indeed need help. I will keep you both in my thoughts and prayers. ginnie

Hi guys and thanks for your support my daughter is 26 years but to us she is our little girl we live in australia she is under the mental health system in shepparton but they say she just has borderline personality disorder and that is not a mental health problem no matter how many times she presents to emergency they will not admit her to the mental health ward so they patch her up and send her home again and again now i think she got desperate and robbed a shop so they would put her in jail so she can get help, we have tryed talking to other mental health hospitals but they say that we have to deal with the one in our area,my daughter goes to court on monday and the police person we have been dealing with said that he and the rest of the police persons that have been dealing with my daughter hold the mental health hospital staff resoponsible for letting her out over and over again we go to court on monday so we can only wait and see what happens i feel so hurt for my daughter her dad is just devestated with what is happening to her,and again thank you to all for being there to support us, i will keep you up dated.

hi guys
My daughter went to court on friday, she wanted to apply for bail but because the hospital up here hasn't filled out a plan for her she wasn't allowed out on bail, she has to wait till the 29th november to apply again them the court hearing will be on the 11th december in the mental health court, hopefully we will get her help there but if the court sends her back to the shepparton mental health she will be in the same situation again they will just patch her wounds up and put her back out on the street again i just don't know what the answer is.
