Default Another Poo Thread :o

Forgive me, but I where else could I ask this?

My son is gluten-free, dairy-free, egg-free, corn-free, soy-free, and basically junk-free. He has never had formed "poo"s...until very recently, and he is almost 7. He has been off soy (the most recent "free" in his diet) for 3 months today. It seems to me that formed "poo"s are a good thing! I posted in another thread recently that I had purchased enzymes. After reading all the wonderful links people provided, I decided I should hold off on the enzymes if I was going to have him tested (considering Enterolab test for soy and possibly gluten). But now, I don't want to introduce anything that might cause a set-back. Would you leave well enough alone and return the enzymes at this point?

Personally, I think I would leave well enough alone if he is finally producing PPP (practically perfect poop) and there are no other complaints.

I also just put in an order for digestive enzymes to see if it helps the gas my daughter always has with her bms, which I understand can come for undigested fermenting food (among a million other possibilities). She still has mostly wormy ribbons, but we only limit/rotate the 'other' food offenders.

I just heard from my pediatrician mentor that Biocidin helped with the gas in her children, so I may consider trying that. I need to read up on it a bit more.

Ah... PPP. The ultimate brass ring. I find myself thinking I'm getting close, only to find I'm far, far from that objective!

Sounds like you and your son have worked hard to achieve the PPP I agree, it may be good just to stay there for a while and see if this holds out.

Biocidin - went to a couple of web pages because I never heard of it. On one site it says it is Grapefruit seed extract and another site Biocidin is a long list of herbal ingredients and I don't see grapefruit mentioned. There is even a Biocidin throat spray.

If you scroll down a little you will come to the story of how grapeseed extract was found to be helpful against fungus and bacteria. http://www.nutriteam.com/gse/gsewhat.html

In the Wiki site it says that there was little antibacterial action of the extract itself. Looks like there was some hot debate as the site is locked. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grapefruit_seed_extract

After reading that certains types of enzymes could make matters worse, it makes me want to study matters more before possibly introducing them. I know there are so many different enzymes...from A to Z... and I really don't know one from another. Back to more homework .

Cara, I read that too! That is why I really don't feel comfortable introducing them! I hope my NFS will take them back!
