Default Peripheral neuropathy caused by celiac? Anyone?

I am interested in talking to folks who have peripheral neuropathy caused by celiac disease.

How does being off of gluten affect your neuropathy? Improve it or no change because the damage was already done in the past?

Hello . i have a syndrome called POIS syndrome with severe sensitivity to gluten which have an effect on my mood ( depressive) with neuropathy pain and stiffness over my thigh and head pain plus migraine .gluten free diet helped massively reduce the pain i addeeed some antioxidant and vitamins and they helped . all i know that gluten enter the cycle ofinflammation in the body and exacerbate any inflammatory condition

Well, my son has struggled with medical issues for 14 years. He was diagnosed with Celiac 2 1/2 years ago. He also has DH and Hashimoto's Disease. He was also diagnosed with Fibro a few years ago. In January he came up positive for Small Fiber Neuropathy, then just this week positive for POTS and Autonomic Neuropathy. So he doesn't have fibro. He's in pain all the time. The pain doesn't go away with the gluten free diet but he has a lot of different things going on. He's only 20

There is evidence that having Coeliac Disease is a risk factor for Peripheral Neuropathy.

See http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/844695#vp_1 for more on this.

Sorry to hear about your son. He is so young to be dealing with all this. Can you please tell me what POTS is?
