Good morning! I'm sure my doc will be calling or sending a letter of explanation but can someone briefly explain what my results mean? Thanks everyone!

Your doctor should be able to confirm this but I think that you are fine - both your anti-transglutaminase IgA and IgG levels are well within the normal range.

--while the transglutaminase tests are more specific for celiac--they are the tests that are most closely associated with villious damage to the small intestine--they do have about a 20% false negative rate . . .
Generally, in a celiac panel, the more sensitive but less specific anti-gliadin IgG and IgA tests will also be ordered, as well as an assay of total IgA, as a minority of people with congenitally low IgA may not get accurate results on tests of those antibody classes. |

Thanks guys! I was thinking both of those points but wanted to make sure I was on the right track. 😀

Hi all! I struggle with severe itchy acne and get rashes on my face that burn and are itchy . I have digestive issues as well struggle with neurological issues. I thought maybe it was a gluten intolerance ? A previous blood work also showed that I had low iron levels. Here are my recent blood work tests

--although I notice you did not have, at least in this panel, testing for anti-glidain IgA and IgG (the latter in particular is the most sensitive, though least specific, test for gluten problems; the anti-transglutaminase IgA, which you did have, is the test most closely associated with damage to villi in celiac).
If you are not a vegetarian (hey, even if you are), the B12 level does seem a bit lower than optimal (that 221 minimal level is really outdated as per most modern researchers). Your low alkaline phosphatase might also be due to some form of mineral/vitamin malabsorption, though there are many reasons for that. Depending on your symptoms it might be worth further investigation--especially if your rashes resemble the celiac associated dermatitis hepatiformis: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dermatitis_herpetiformis https://www.bing.com/images/search?q...rmis&FORM=IGRE |

No, I haven't done any more tests but I have eliminated gluten in the past couple of days and I really do feel much better and my rash is slowly going away.
