Dr. Joel Wallah preaches "get off gluten" and heard him the other night on my late evening radio go at it again and how he connects it to the sick who have gotten the VIRUS and are having hard times and a lot who have died, and so many have had Health Issues: heart, diabetes, COPD etc etc etc
He believes so MUCH of chronic health issues are related to gluten. Speaking of the Italians who were hit hard by CV and they eat a lot of high gluten foods. The Germans eat low gluten and have had low CV cases. The U.S. eat a lot of cereals, breads, pasta etc and here in the U.S. the VIRUS were told is out of control. The people of India lower CV due to their high Rice intake... I've gotten off all gluten crackers and only eat Rice Crackers... Personally I've cut off a LOT of gluten in my life...and notice some of the stuff I buy anyway is Gluten Free. So a reminder and one can even do a search: Gluten and Coronavirus and see what comes up. C |

For some people there are good medical reasons for keeping dietary gluten to a minimum. Those with the auto-immune condition called celiac disease are an example as well as those with non-celiac gluten sensitivity.
There are many reasons why the reported levels of Covid-19 infection in different countries (and parts of different countries) differ. In no particular order they include: Accuracy of reported levels, quality of public health systems, identification of contacts of an infected person with testing and quarantine if needed, following the social isolation and distancing rules, premature relaxation of lock-down rules are all examples of this. I do not think that the claimed correlation between risk of Covid-19 infection and dietary gluten is convincing especially as the claimed correlation is not strong. As the old saying goes, "correlation is not causation".

Kiwi, yes there is mis information all over the place, but this is what Dr. Wallah is saying about the damage from foods in the FIRST place for so many health issues. Believe some of it or not. C

This seems to be based on guesswork not evidence.
The way to do this properly for (say) American residents would be to do an epidemiology experiment. Take a large sample of American residents and measure (not guess) what their dietary gluten levels are. Then see what effects they may have on their risk of Covid-19 infection and the consequences of that infection. The results of that epidemiology experiment would be based on science rather than guesswork.

I've chosen to go as gluten free as I can long before Covid... And many people have.
And I don't know if you know anything about the Blood Types we are and what is good for us and what is not, I am back to this book I have owned for 20 yrs.... And new info out there says O types are least prone to the virus, B's which I am a little more and the AB and A are the most prone....You can look this info up if curious Kiwi. I have worked on my immune system for many yrs and feel it's strong and I'm not out THERE amongst the crowds of people anyway. Going to my mailbox is the furthest I go and no mask here. Take care. And many feel this is all very political. We don't know, we know nothing for sure. |
