Oh man, a few weeks ago my son had an infection that needed antibiotics on a Saturday morning. The doctor couldn't tell me if the antibiotic was gluten-dairy-corn-free, and neither could the pharmacist, and neither could the company that makes the medicine. Plus, one of the inactive ingredients in it was xanthan gum, which supposedly has traces of corn, and so I normally would never feed it to my son. But I figured that traces of corn weren't as bad as continuing to have the infection, and so I went ahead and let him have the antibiotic anyway, mystery ingredients and all. But I am *so* frustrated that I can't find out what's in this stuff. I don't know what people with life-threatening food allergies *do* when they need medication. It's just crazy. :-(

That is outrageous that no one would take the ingredients of medicines seriously or be responsible for the ingredients. It has to be a result of lobbying power that foods must now label allergens but not medicines. And more and more I am having trouble finding out what is in my medicine. The doctor doesn't know, the pharmacist doesn't have the time and my new company scripts says they can't be held responsible unless I list a gf name brand and they won't even look anything up for me, and the manufacturer is hard to locate.
FYI, I've been sick from minicule amounts in hand lotion and hair conditioner. Leslie |

I know what you mean though...Its ridiculous. I found out my kids polly pocket dolls were getting to me. And the company wouldn't confirm or deny the presence of corn. Just that they were coated in a substance that was nontixic and capable of producing an allergic reaction. *sigh* When you pick up clutter, it shouldn't bite you. (and what about the *kids* who might be allergic? Shouldn't there be a warning of sorts?) |

My son was given antibiotics for his h pylori in which there was gluten. It was that or penacylin.
The doctor said " it was so minute, that he could not possibly have a problem". He broke out. His comment "Is that why you always get "d" with antibiotics". The 200ppm is dangerous and hopeless. |
