Hi everybody. I've been gluten-free for a couple of years. A few days ago I was glutened. I've got a new symptom, and I was wondering if anyone else has gotten this.
I started getting the painful pins and needles in my hands and arms, which I get sometimes when I'm glutened, but then I started to get the sensation of cold water running down my arm if I bumped into anything. Very strange. jmmom |

Those symptoms sound like peripheral neuropathy, which can be a direct result of gluten sensitivity.... and perhaps associated with a single glutening. I've never had that happen to me, personally. I know of people who have seizures as a result of a single glutening, so I don't doubt a single glutening could provoke nerve symptoms. I have heard others discuss their neuropathy symptoms worsening when accidently getting gluten (and sometimes casein or other food) in their diet.
I'd also be sure your B12 (and other B) levels are strong. Cara

Yep. I looked up peripheral neuropathy, and that's definitely it. I had thought that that was tingling combined with numbness. I didn't realize you could have other sensations that go with it.
