Default Odor

About a year ago we noticed our Daughter had a urine like odor to her breath. The Pediatrician thought it could be a UTI and prescribed an antibiotic. The odor has continued off and on for the past year. She is not diabetic and has normal renal function. She does have sensitivity to cow milk and soy milk since infancy. She was on Alimentum as an infant after she had bloody stool from soy formula. She drinks Rice milk and tolerates that okay but any large amount of dairy and she has abdominal cramps/ diarrhea / vomiting.

I think it may be an inability to metabolize the complex proteins. I am wondering if there is a link between this and the breath odor.

If anyone has any information to share I would be very grateful.

Thanks

This is a real long shot, but I have seen breath odor as a symptom of pyroluria , but described as a 'fruity' odor. This reference is my favorite for pyroluria because it points to many other references, but I don't see mention of the breath odor here.

But, if you google breath odor pyroluria, you should be able to find some references. Pyroluria seems to be associated with gluten and casein sensitivity.... so it might fit there. Not everyone has all the symptoms listed.

Lightbulb odors...

can be from faulty amino acid metabolism.

They can be from H.pylori infection

Kids with ADHD put out methane in the breath.

Also chronic sinus infections give a nasty odor.

Is it worse sometimes than others?
