I had contact PAR 1-828-9393 about Meclizine 12.5 mg (generic for antivert). Mark said that the starch used in the product is corn and potato but they can not guarantee any cross contamination with Gluten in the mfg process. The company will look up any drug they make for consumers but they are only open during normal business hours Monday through Friday beginning at 9 am EST.

If your insurance company is like mine - if a generic brand is available you must have the generic unless the dr writes DAW (despence as written) but you have to pay a higher cost for the name brand because a generic is available.

Celiac situation - brand name is verified gluten free but generic is not then no generic is available.

Insurance - file an appeal with your insurance company! Also contact your House Representatives and Senators in your state.

I am currently in the process and will let you know the outcome.

I hope to get time to do it soon, but I was trying to track down ingredients for the generic drug I am taking. It took AGES but I finally found the manufacturer's phone number... they're pretty sneaky.

For what it is worth, I had my Caremark send me LEK brand blood pressure
tablets for my first RX. LEK is in Kosovo. Hardly available for us to call.

I did have good experience with Perrigo..in Michigan. They make most of the
generic OTC products sold in grocery stores and drug stores. They had
extensive gluten information when I called them a while back.

No luck with the insurance company - didn't expect it either but tried. They say that there is no exception for Gluten or any other allergy that may be present in a drug. That's wrong in my opinion for many reasons.

I did get a call back from one HR in my state. The office wanted to know tons of information so I gave him what I could offer and some additional contacts. Here is a copy of an email I received from another - no help but I did get a response:

Qualitest Pharmaceuticals Inc. 1-800-444-4011 stated to me on Monday that all their products are made with potato starch and in a GF facility. One product they have is methylprednisolone (medrol dose pack). I had to call because I was given the rx and pharmacies are terrible about verifying medications.
