Default September Roll Call

Hello all.

Sorry to usurp your usual start-up of the roll call Al but it's Sept. 2 and I finally got enough time to register here and then was SHOCKED to see that there was no roll call thread for me to announce my superlative arrival!

I'm glad to finally be here.

Things are going well here but we are very busy with a major house reno. (two new rooms created in our old attic) which is leading us into moving everyone's bedrooms around with the fall season change of clothes. That's not to mention the new baby who is now crawling, standing, climbing, bumping and falling, which obviously keeps me hopping. Dh is back to work after 3 months parental leave, so my workload at home just doubled. I think I know what I'm doing but am not entirely sure.

Also we're starting up the new year of homeschooling and I'm setting up the children's activities outside and a new open homeschool support group for an area that doesn't have one.

That's it for now.

It's nice and busy here but not like the old place yet. I guess it'll take time for people to find us. Oh, I've found a new group called 'Foodlab' via my infant support group. These folks know about everything we do about multiple food sensitivities and are very nice. It's a yahoo group though and so the setup is not like it is here, where files are easier to keep track of.

Honestly, I'm kind of wondering why we don't just stay here...?

Kind regards,
KimS

Hey no problem Kim!! LOL What better way to make the Grand Entrance It's good to see you again!

What?!?! It's September already? HOLY CRAP

As I said in the August post, Peg starts a new full time job on the 11th. Working for an Alzheimer's Memory Center that one of the Neuros is setting up. So, in training, she's been working at her 2nd part time job whenever she's not at her main part time job at the clinic. This means all Al's Goodies get made now on Saturday's. Today was Bun, Chocolate Quiona Bars, Lemon Dream Bars, Seafood Pasta salad day! Whew!!! There were a total of 16 Buns...you know what that's begging for...You make 16 Buns and wha d'ya get?

She did have off on Thursday, so she got together with a friend's wife [he has CD] and made GF Graham Crackers for their DDH's. Total of 12 cups of crumbs and a bunch of crackers to munch on - or smores.

Sorry no pics of the bars or pasta salad...yet. heheheee

Last weekend we replaced our sink. Out with the Transolid sink...in with a new Kohler stainless steel. Note: It pays to have a BIL that owns a plumbing company LOL!!

Things are getting closer for me starting up a CD support group in town. I talked to a guy that I went to HS with in the grocery store today. I knew he and his DD have, but never talked to him. I asked if he would be interested in such a thing - He said "YES". A friend of Peg's - her adult son was recently dx'ed too. So, Anne...be prepared for a few questions!!

Well, I gotta get back to making a DVD for my Pastor. She recently lead a trip to Africa and she has a few speaking engagements. Guess who she asked to help her out <wink>.

Is it really September?

finally tracked down a supply of goats feed to last through but had to make compromises ........ they are eating Cert Organic pellets but they contain wheat ........ so far (fingers crossed ) I havent noticed any difference so maybe gluten doesnt come through into milk .......

Hi Kim! I didn't recognize you at first without your old user name! Glad to see you over here! I didn't post in the August roll call, but decided maybe I would this month. I like how people are able to track their progress over time through these posts.

I still have ds off corn and soy. I had him off both for a month, and when I reintroduced first one then the other, he started having problems again. Ended up taking him back off both for the past 2+ months. Very recently (a couple of weeks ago) he started having wet nights. This is a sign of food intolerance for him. 3 days into it, I took him off his mult-vitamin which does contain corn and soy (presumably trace amounts since they aren't listed). Currently he is doing well (dry nights!), but it could be "coincidence". Who knows. I'm now contemplating grinding up my b-complex and calcium/mag supplement for him at half-dose.

So good to have a BT board again, whether its 1 or 2!

I think that is great that you are starting up a CD group Al! My goal this month besides surviving my last semester of graduate school is to go to one of the two CD groups who meet at the hospital once a month. Been so lazy about doing this.

I've noticed my energy is so much better. Could it be more improvement from the gluten free lifestyle after 600 days?

I'm checking my leave-in conditioners, conditioners, and shampoos. I know I'm getting a bit of contamination especially from the leave-in conditioners that I put on my hands before my hair. Has anyone else had problems with these products? So hard to find some without gluten. I wish I could do a search on the braintalk website.

I am so grateful this site is here.

Default Near miss

Thanks to everyone for their condolences for my cat. I was going to post a picture, but never got around to it. At least we still have two other geriatric cats who are keeping us company AND entertained!

I had a not so Close Encounter with Cara. She was visiting Colorado near my home, but the stars did not align for us to meet. Between her busy family schedule, and my busy work schedule, we decided that we weren't going to see each other this trip. But I did get to talk to her on the phone! She was e-mailing me right when I called her . Have computer, will travel, LOL!

Things are pretty good on the digestive front, as long as I don't eat anything from a long list of foods! To recap, I'm not eating gluten, dairy, soy, corn, beans, most nuts and seeds, and quinoa. At least I can still eat eggs, rice and potatoes! I really want to get a handle on this leaky gut thing. I appreciate the posts on this topic.

Well, that's about it. Just enjoying the beautiful late summer Colorado weather. Even though I've been working a lot, it's been in the high country, so it's a nice treat. How's everyone else doing?

Hi everyone--nice to see we have a home again. Sorry I haven't posted before this. I am still having this anti "talk about celiac" syndrome thing going on in my head. I can't seem to get the "foods I miss" out of my head. Thank God, I don't eat them--not even an option.

September again, a year older this month. I hope, a year smarter!

I'm here.

Dd#1 is giving up dairy. We decided thats "bigger" for her than gluten, since her blood tests were neg. So...she's getting gluten at school and in soup. So far there's just a lot of "I don't want to be allergic to dairy!" echoing around the house. She's had only one tummy ache...following a dinner with Grandma. My fault, I know, I know better. I don't want her to be allergic to dairy either! (Okay...I just don't want to give up cheese...but if it helps her...)

Now I just have to figure out what to keep feeding them. The kids seem to do better with more grains in their diet (I definately do better with less) Sweet rice flour crepes were a success...Chebe bread sandwiches...rice cakes...the voice in the back of my head is freaking out on low fiber content, but they seem happy

So good to see old friends again.

Al, Love the food pics - YUM I think starting a local support group is a great idea. I have know more than one group that started with only 2-3 people.

September and I am still NOT orgainized. Weather has turned beautiful with a drop in the temp. Lovely weekend on the lake.

Got some more results from Enterolab They confirmed that I am sensitive to egg white and yeast. I also test positive to soy and casein. I admit that I have not completely free of these yet except for added yeast. I will post this on a separate thread soon.

I am checking in. It is hard to believe it is September already. I am looking forward to fall. It is my favorite season.

We are doing well. Eric started middle school and is taking a Family and Consumer Science class. I have already been in touch with the nurse, counselor, and teacher and they will excuse him from the room (with an alternative assignment) on the days they bake with wheat. I told them I would do my best to cook the assignment at home with him. However, baking without gluten, eggs, and dairy is a bit challenging.
