the monkeys got some bracelets!! HUGE hit!

i emailed lil'monkey's pta pres. brought up the idea of spreading the word next year about collecting canned food. ( she is in jr high ) the response from her was wonderful! she thought it would be a HUGE jump start on the holiday food drive.

i handed out treat bags with things like cool pencils..erasers...stickers...markers...but i had a bowl of packages of fruit snacks for those who wanted them.

a very sterling IDEA...

This is a great idea... to help children learn about helping others.

And to defray the feelings of being left out, during "food" holidays!

Rachel, you are really creative! And generous!

And next year she wants to dress up the day after Halloween and go trick or treating at a retirement home...to pass her treats back out. I think its an awesome idea, I just don't have my head together to do it this year. (I'd have to find one, call to get an okay, actually get her there...)

That's a great idea!! I'm sure pretty much any retirement home would really love that!

Oh cool! Glad to hear it!

We gave out books this year (I spent $13.78 at the local re-use center and got 60 used kids' books and a computer mouse -- wow!). But we had very few trick-or-treaters this year (it was really cold here on Halloween), and many of them were more interested in candy than in books. So I've got lots of extra books left to donate to the kids' schools. Lots of my neighbors were giving out glow bracelets, so I'm thinking it's time to come up with yet another clever non-food treat for next year.
