This doc is pretty cool. He does a great job of explaining things in English. He wrote down everything he is looking for and sent it home with me.

First thing he looks at is acid. Either from Hpylori or reflux. Then, if acid reducers don't work, he looks at the gall bladder. He said that even if the ultra sound didn't show stones that we still may be looking at an emptying problem. But he wants to leave further testing for after we get the labs back.

Then he is looking at pancreatitis. He drew blood levels and will let us know what they say. He pretty much said "they" don't really know what the cause is, but it is treatable with medicines.

Then he looks at the IBD's like Crohns and Ulcerative Colitis. He was pretty sure it wasn't UC.

If none of the tests come up positive, then he considers Functional disorders. Not psyc, but ultra sensitivity.

He had the scope and it did show signs of gastroenteritis. He has little red spots all through his tummy and his duedenem is pretty swollen. But he doesn't know why yet. He's waiting for blood work. He took a bunch of bi-opsies and he sent them off to the lab. He's starting to think that Con may have other food allergies and he wants to see if it's damaging the cells.

After the scope, Con was screaming in pain. Finally broke down and called the doc and he got him some lortabs. It took the edge off, but it didn't take the pain away. He also started him on Nexium for the gastroenteritis.

He is fairly grumpy.

Thanks for all of your help. I am trying the diet, but haven't started elimations. I want to see the results of the tests to see if I can get a jumping off point.

I love you guys. Thank you so much.

Oh, poor Con! I'm so sorry, Erin!! I'll keep Con in my prayers.

I certainly do agree that SCD or very limited elimination diet is a place to go. I'm so sorry both of you have to deal with this.

I'm sorry he's so uncomfortable

I think a broth diet is really the way to start...give his body a break and then when the results all come back you know where to go from there. Gelatin and blamd broiled meats should also be soothing...basically the "SCD Intro Diet". It also gives you a place to start slowly reintroducing items...and easily pinpoint reactions. I know itshard, but it might get you to some answers sooner. Good luck and keeping my fingers crossed you get results, and ANSWERS soon!

It does sound like this doctor is exploring many avenues. I am hopeful that you will get some important information out of blood work and biopsy results.
I'm sorry he is in so much pain...that has got to be so worrisome, not to mention just feeling so sorry for him that he has to go through this.

Keep us posted.

Hi Bear, I hope Con startes to feel better quickly. Glad that the doctor is looking at many possibilities. I hope the blood and biopsy give some answers so you know what direction you need to take.

Keep us posted.

Hey, all.

Con's not any better.
Blood work all came back normal. He can't sleep now from the pain. The doc wants a nuclear something or other scan of his gall bladder.

Waah.

We have found 3 things he can eat without throwing up. Mashed potatoes, rice and jello.

I know that in order to find out what's wrong we have to rule out all the obvious first, but I am so impatient and so worried. My poor Cub.

Just venting.

Hugs everyone. It's gotta get better, right?

I'm so sorry to hear this .

You might want to take a look at the Not Celiac page in the gluten file. It has these that can cause symptoms like celiac disease, singly or co-existing. Maybe you will see something they haven't thought of.

I just don't even know what to suggest, except to perhaps take a stab with an environmental/integrative type doc. Sounds like your current doc is still looking, but I'm sorry they haven't been able to pinpoint anything yet.

Poor kid. I feel for him.

Look on the bright side. At least you now know what it isn't! When I was getting tested for parasites and intestinal pathogens, I thought the lab at the hospital was testing for all parasites and bacteria. I did some more research and got the lab's list of what they test for, and found out I wasn't tested for Candida and some other bacterias and parasites I had read about on other forums. I was mad .

So, I went to an alternative doctor out of frustration and he immediately ordered a stool test through Diagnos-Techs lab. I was diagnosed with a bacterial overgrowth and I was treated with Chinese herbs. Interestingly enough, I also had a low secretory IgA. I'm glad I didn't do antibiotics because I think they are one of the causes of my multiple food allergies. My acu said they aren't effective for this kind of thing anyways, and it wasn't like he was rabidly against antibiotics.

I'm sure you are getting all the results of Con's tests, but if you aren't, make sure you do and double check what he has been tested for. It's possible something has been missed.

I will request the test results. I didn't think to because everytime the doctor calls he reads them to me off Con's chart.

He gave him a medicine that slows down his digestive system. I am confused, but he was able to keep down food yesterday and his pain has lessened. Still there, but not near as bad. But he doesn't enjoy the headache that comes with it.

Still, much better.

Thank you for your prayers. I have been really worried. You all help so much.
