Thanks for the ideas. I like the salmon idea, but the boys won't like it. I'm still considering trying ravioli, but I have to wait until I can eat eggs again, which, I hope, will be this Wednesday. It's part of the treatment I'm doing for my food allergies.
Leslie, I just put up my flakey pie crust recipe in an easy to find place. It worked well for me, and I can't do store bought mix type pie crusts. Claire

Thank you Claire! Maybe now I will prepare a decent pumpkin pie for the holidays. I've been waiting 3 years for it!

Turns out for Xmas dinner (actually Saturday) we are grilling 3 Boston Butts. I am looking into what do have with it. I can't have pork, I get hives. So, I am considering my options too. I am wondering about Salmon. I love grilled salmon. I got a turkey from my boss. I think I will do it on Xmas day or Winter Solstice.

My son has not told us yet... perhaps Middle Eastern this year.
A little less traditional after the turkey on Thanksgiving. I told him ham would be okay. But I found him an international cookbook that is filled with GF recipes-- including veggies. Since he appropriated my nice "vegetable" book on vacation! I have a huge 3in thick color book I found on a sale table years ago,up there, and he looked at it and said .."Shame it sits here for 9-10mos doing nothing. May I borrow it?" So he took it. Am I going to say NO to him? He knows how to handle me, I guess Yesterday I was at Borders and saw this doozie with veggies (and other things) in it, in a similar style... for 14.99. It has recipes from around the world..very chic. It would cost more than that to mail it to anyone! I could barely carry it up the stairs! So maybe I can get my Vegetable book back? I only have 4 books up North to help with cook from scratch recipes. I can only do fresh up there, with the poor refrigeration etc. So I want my book back! We tell him...no gifts for us...just cook for us . It is working well, this "no gifts" idea! LOL I'll have to remind him...no hummus... that really sets my gall bladder issue off! I love reading the holiday threads...lots of great ideas always show up here!

Well, I still don't know what I'm going to cook for Christmas. The last two days, we've been dealing with a blizzard here in Colorado. We had two feet of snow at our house! I had a day and a half off from work because of it, and I had fantasies of getting a lot of Christmas cooking done. But I had to shovel all that snow myself since DH can't shovel because of his bad back and my stepsons were at their mom's house . I shoved a total of 6 1/2 hours over two days, and I was exhausted today because of it.
I talked with my SIL today, who will be joining us on Christmas, and told her I still didn't know what I was going to cook for Christmas. She said, "Don't you have a cookbook?" I said, "Do you have any ideas?" To which she replied, "Uhh, I don't have a gluten-free cookbook, so I don't know what I would be able to cook that you could eat." This was after I told her that I would probably just get a turkey. Sheesh!
