Default more info about Dr. Fine's new gluten-free nuts/dried fruits facility to open "soon":

Mrs. D., Jamie and everyone:

I agree, Mrs. D., that a gluten-free "dedicated plant" will be very helpful!

Jamie, Dr. Fine said he hopes to open his new distributing facility "soon".

Anyone wanting more details, can email Dr. Fine at info@intestinalhealth.org
Let everyone know what you find out, if you get more info.

The distribution facility (gluten-free "dedicated plant") is to be gluten-free, milk & dairy-free, soy-free, peanut-free, grain-free, egg-free and meat-free, and organic (I assume salt-free and raw--will have to check on this).

So now there are 2 websites for Dr. Fine's efforts to diagnose and help people who are gluten-sensitive (&/or sensitive to any of the other proteins listed above):

www.finerhealth.com (for non-invasive stool sample testing at EnteroLab, re: gluten & other food protein sensitivities---no prescription required---and he also does genetic non-invasive cheek swab testing, for those wishing this), and

www.theorganicalternative.com (which website will have more details for ordering otganic nuts & dried fruits, online, when the new gluten-free "dedicated plant"/facility/distribution center opens "soon").

I couldn't believe the nice timing of my finding out about this!

I think it's great that Dr. Fine is not only an activist, about helping people to find out if they have food protein sensitivities (via his EnteroLab), but now is taking steps to help to make available some less cross-contaminated food sources (nuts & dried fruits).

I've been finding gluten-free nuts and dried fruit at Trader Joe's. You need to read the label to figure out which ones are gluten-free, since not everything is. Trader Joe's is *very* good about labeling each item with info about what allergens were produced on the same equipment and what allergens were processed in the same plant. I like that they list these two things separately, since I'm generally comfortable with eating things that were produced in the same plant as gluten but not on the same equipment.

Items that we get regularly at Trader Joe's are: organic cashews, organic Thompson raisins, organic almonds, and toasted pine nuts. Sometimes they have gluten-free organic dried apricots, or organic walnuts, too.

Also, Trader Joe's is the place that I found GF baking cocoa powder, after a long quest looking for it. So that's another item I buy there.
