So did you ty the above staring at white noise (tv snow or static)methontd? There are countless articles on using white noise for various medical problems and I am asserting that noiseless starinig at it is significantly more effective. The theta brainwaves that I belieive is what is produced by this are also known and written about on the internet to be very healing.
