Confused Headache, vomiting, sluggish pupil in one eye scared

Hi so I have a v.p shunt for a issue of fluid on the brain because he told me he was refusing to do a spinal tap and recently my headaches have been a lot worse I've been very tired I've been vomiting a lot in the last 9 months I've lost a hundred ninety pounds and when I call my neurologist I come to find out she was out of town and was told to go to my primary care physicians office and so I did and I found out upon his examination that my right people is very sluggish( not reacting to the light like it should) and so he called my neurologist office and found out how to get ahold of her and they both agreed that I need to go to the emergency room for an emergency spinal tap to check my pressure so I went but unfortunately I ended up with one of those types of doctors that believes he can just look at you and tell you what's wrong he was refusing to do a spinal tap because he said just by looking at me he could tell that my pressure was in up nor did I have high pressure nor did I have meningitis and then he told me because I had been in the hospital 22 times in the last 2 years did I should know how to deal with my pain so here I am now two weeks later on a new medication still vomiting still having my headaches lost another 10 pounds having a hard time keeping myself awake and cannot get in to see my neurologist which I will be calling again in the morning telling them I cannot continue to go on like this but I just want to know does anybody have any suggestions how should I handle this I'm losing hope is this the end is this what my life is going to be like for the rest of it is it never going to be pain free again if not why does this happen and why can't we find the answers

Hi LoveLife,

I just wanted to say I really feel for you. Please don't give up.

If your neuro isn't going to be back soon maybe she can refer you to a colleague she deems reputable and who will pay attention to you and run any tests that might be helpful.

If she feels you must go to ER again, perhaps she can tell you which hospital would be best, maybe which doctor(s) to look for there.... maybe even call the hospital herself to say you are going?

I don't know if this is too much to ask of her. Right now I just see that way too much is being asked of you.

I really hope your situation turns around soon.

I'm so sorry to hear about your symptoms, that is awful. I agree with waves. I would attempt to see a different neurologist that your current neurologist would recommend until she comes back into town.

I'm sorry to hear about your experience at the ER, that is horrible and I don't understand how doctors could treat any patient like that.

I hope you get the answers you need soon.
