Default Totally Candid!

Hello I am Pinkkribbon, name because I am a survivor...

everything I am about to share is exactly what I have told 3 doctors (after a CT scan"normal", a Lumbar puncture"Normal" and 2 MRI's"one shows slight sinus desease and the other Normal") one doctor told me I was having an anxiety attack and precribed depression medication, one told me it was stress but admitted me to the hospital for 2 days and a neurologist who told me he is not sure what it is and that he called it an acute headache(exact words)at this point I am somewhat bitter of short answers from Doctors no communication and weird looks...

(FYI: I am sensitive to codine and I am an asthmatic these are in my records and on my hospital braclet as well the chalkboard in my room)and there is no chance I am pregnant and very long winded!

So here is the story
Sunday:Two weeks ago while having sex with my husband I had a massive headache (the headache felt like head was getting jakhammeredon a scale of 1 to 10 It was about a 10/11)my nose started bleeding and me left leg started going numb, my husband rushed me to the ER by the time I got there I wa throwing up enter doctor number 1 anxiety attack huh! had the CT scan and the spinal tap both normal. I left the hospital and with a shot of morphine for the pain. and a prescription for alprazphlam and percoset

I went home and rested the entire day Monday not moving too much and very nauseated, that night I took a shower and out of the blue BANG another headache I was doing nothing but standing in the warm water this one now stronger that the first, I layed down until I could get to the health care clinic and speak to a primary.

Tuesday: (The NP tried; she was the only one that trully seemed concerned.) she gave me a shot imatrex...BAD MOVE, it felt like my head and face was burning and the headache got worse, I was sent to MRI from there (normal) went back home with a prescription for Zomig took one and was in really bad pain for over 3 hours after taking it (burning feeling is back) went to bed and the nausea feeling returned.

Wednesday morning rudely awakened with the need to vomit ran to the bathroom and Bang Brain blast number 3
this one worse than the last 2 now I am rushed back to the ER, the attending doctor wants to do a lumbar puncture fill, (by now I am very light sensitive, nauseated, weak and sound sensitive) she says it is a stress response "REALLY!" but admits me to the hospital with a bad headache, I am put in room with a 93 year old woman who is hard of hearing, it get worse she has a large family who comes to visit which included a almost 2 year old toddler who is learning her ABC's. headache pain with morphine was a comfortable 6/7, I was sent home with prescriptions for ibuprophin 600 reglan, my albuterol, prevasid(heartburn), tylenol 3 and percoset

After some serious complaining by my family, I was moved the next day spent the night and was released with an acute headache pain level 5/6 and I have been at this level for going on week 3.

I tried to return to work last week thinking I was feeling better and I am used to the pain at a 5/6 level after taking IB 600 and returned home mid shift. I am the overnight night manager at a 4 diamond hotel. and pretty much do paper work lots of paper work but I need to be able to focus and with my headache I am not able to do so, I am extremely frustrated tired of these headaches that do not leave, tired of the all day vomit sessions and people saying I don't know! tired of the sore back and limbs and feeling that I have been running a cheese grater on my arms and legs tired of my legs going numb, for a few mins at a time.

if everhing is normal with my test how come all this mess.

I WANT MY LIFE BACK...

Hopfully someone can give me an idea as to what actions I can take now I have an appointment in a few weeks with a new neurologist (earliest I could get is a month away)

Are you seeing a neurologist with a special interest in migraines?
There are daily preventatives you might be able to try.
There is one called Topamax that is often very effective...although it can have a lot of side effects, particularly at higher dosages. One possible move is to take it at a lower dosage and then try a very strict elimination diet as well to avoid potential food triggers.

My Neuorologist is a partner at the Headache center close to me.

I tried Topamax and it did not work, my neurologist has tried me on Migranal as well and that does not work either(highly expensive waste of money)I have had new side effects as of my last post, including a numb bottom lip, my skin is worse with the feeling of sunburn all over. and at times I fell like my limbs are wraped in pins and needles.

Shocked I hate to say it but....

your symptos sound exactly like those of hydrocephalus. Particularly if your headache is a "forhead" headache, as I call them, with a sensation of being hit by a hammer from the inside. That along with the vomiting (another sign of increased intracranial pressure) are typical symptoms I have when my shunt blocks.

I would go back to the hospital and insist on a CT scan immediately, because you could be putting yourself in danger by delaying treatment. I can't believe your CT scans would have shown up "normal" while you are experiencing these symptoms.

Hang in there!

Nat.
