Great idea! That seed place I just discovered has a page devoted to vegetable container gardening. There are books out now about this for city dwellers who want to use roof space, or balcony areas for growing veggies! The highlighted author suggests mixing some flowers in there with the veggies to get the best of both worlds!
I love novel containers! I had a nice planter made from birch tree branches, but it finally rotted out. Hubby said it would be too much work to fix as it was goners basically...but I loved it. (got it handmade at a farmer's market one year).

What a great idea. I don't have much space here for what I'd love to grow. I have an old laundry basket just the same. It's broken near one of the handles so I don't use it anymore. I'm not sure about the watering or heavy rain as it looks as if the soil would wash out. I guess the bottom area could be closed in a little more to keep it all in the basket. Hessian might work or some of that coconut fibre used in hanging baskets.
